Call for Submissions for the Edmond de Rothschild Design Award 2026 - Fashion Design
The Edmond de Rothschild Foundation is proud to announce the 2026 Award, which this year will focus on fashion design. Designers in the field are invited to submit their applications for the award. Submissions must include a comprehensive portfolio, CV, and a personal statement of intent. All proposals will be carefully reviewed by a professional judging committee. The submission period opens on 21.12.25. Final date for submission: 28.02.26.
The Edmond de Rothschild Design Award: Established by the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation in 2019, the award aims to promote and encourage excellence through public recognition of senior creators with a high volume of quality and significant work, identification and support of emerging designers, increasing local interest in contemporary design, and enhancing international exposure for Israeli design. The establishment of a prestigious award dedicated to contemporary Israeli design seeks to encourage a variety of voices and new creation in the field, and to emphasize the presence of design in public discourse. The award is granted annually in one design field. The Edmond de Rothschild Design Award is presented each year in a different area of design. In 2022, the award was given in the fields of textile design, jewelry (goldsmithing), and fashion design, won by Esther Knoble, Gali Cnaani, Aharon Genish, and Daniela Sharia. Last year, the award was granted in the field of visual communication, and, as noted, in 2026 it will be awarded in the field of fashion design.
Adv. Tal Sagi Paran, CEO of the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation: "We are pleased to continue supporting Israeli creators in the sixth year of the award, this time in the field of fashion design. Even during challenging times, designers continue to create, innovate, and use design as a tool for expression. The award provides designers with public recognition and professional exposure, strengthening the status of the design field in Israel."
The 2026 Award will be presented to: Designers whose body of work focuses on fashion design, apparel, and accessories, emphasizing original design, development of patterns (cuts/silhouettes), innovative materials, and technologies, spanning the range from limited capsule collections to large-scale serial production.
Upon the closing of the submission period: On 28.02.26, a professional judging committee will review the submissions and select the list of 22 finalists (shortlist), who will be published on the award website and whose works will be exhibited at a peak event in the summer of 2026. From the finalists, the judging committee will select the four winners, who will each receive a monetary grant of NIS 65,000. The winners will be chosen by a professional judging committee that changes annually. This committee is composed of five key figures in the Israeli fashion design field, including senior designers, curators, and researchers.
The Judging Process: Submitted applications will be reviewed by a local professional judging committee, whose composition changes annually. The judging process takes place in two stages: At the end of the first stage, the committee will select 22 finalists (11 senior and 11 young designers). In the second judging stage, senior figures in the international fashion design field will join the local committee. As every year, Baroness Ariane de Rothschild chairs the judging committee and takes an active part in the judging process. To maintain the integrity of the judging, the identities of the judges will remain confidential until the announcement of the winners.
The Edmond de Rothschild Foundation: Works to create a just, cohesive, and inclusive Israeli society, driving deep processes of social change aimed at promoting excellence, diversity, and leadership through higher education. Continuing a philanthropic legacy of over 140 years, the Foundation fulfills the Rothschild family's ongoing commitment to the pioneering spirit of the State of Israel and invests in agents of change and the advancement of its new pioneers.
