International Yoga Day—an initiative of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi observed on June 21st—continues to serve as an important cultural bridge, connecting people, communities, and countries through the shared values of harmony, health, and well-being.

The Embassy of India in Israel, in collaboration with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, the Port of Tel Aviv, and Ellayoga, successfully held Israel's largest yoga event yesterday (Sunday, June 21st) to mark the 12th International Yoga Day. The event featured over 500 yoga practitioners from all over the country and included a full practice of 108 Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar). The event brought together yoga enthusiasts, senior teachers, public figures, and members of the Indian community in Israel for a shared experience of health, well-being, and intercultural connection.

International Yoga Day is observed annually worldwide, following an initiative by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The initiative received broad support from United Nations member states, which in 2014 declared June 21st as International Yoga Day. Since then, the day has become a global celebration observed on every continent, highlighting yoga's contribution to physical and mental health, personal balance, and community well-being.

This year's event was held under the global theme "Yoga for Healthy Aging." The theme focused on yoga's role in promoting optimal and respectful aging, as well as its ability to support an active and healthy lifestyle at all stages of life. During the event, hundreds of people participated in a joint yoga class led by Anat Spiegler, a senior teacher at Ellayoga. The program also included a colorful classical Indian dance performance, illustrating the deep connection between tradition, movement, and personal well-being. Participants enjoyed a unique experience that combined yoga values with a spirit of community, tolerance, and friendship between India and Israel.

Jitendra Pal Singh, Ambassador of India to Israel: "The nationwide celebration of International Yoga Day in Israel testifies to the central place yoga holds in the lives of many Israelis." It was further emphasized that International Yoga Day continues to serve as an important cultural bridge, connecting people, communities, and countries through the shared values of harmony, health, and well-being.
