A girl falls in love for the first time, with her high school teacher. She documents her experiences in writing and shares them with her mother and grandmother, who consider whether to publish it in a book.

"Dreams" is the second chapter in the "Sex-Love-Dreams" trilogy by Dag Johan Haugerud, one of the most interesting Scandinavian creators of the last decade, who presents an intimate, sensitive, and very human film.

The film is slow, the plot is mostly narrated by the protagonist herself, and some of the experiences are conveyed as acted-out scenes. Yes, a lot of patience is needed, but gradually we are drawn into the story.

17-year-old Johanna falls in love for the first time, with her French teacher. She chooses to document her experiences in writing, and naturally shares what she has written with the two women she is closest to - her single mother and her grandmother, herself a poet. The two are initially shocked by the intimate content, but soon recognize the literary value in it.

As they consider how to react to such a relationship, and debate whether it is appropriate to publish the writing, all three examine the place of love, dreams, and passion in their lives.

The film won the Golden Bear award and the Critics' Award at the Berlin Film Festival this year.
