"He Whose Sukkah Falls": The Jerusalem Khan Arrives in Tel Aviv
The Jerusalem Khan Theater presents the play "He Whose Sukkah Falls," a stage adaptation of the bestseller by Tzvi Ben-Meir, and arrives for premiere performances in Tel Aviv.
The Plot: Binyamin "Bini" Kimchi, son of Rabbi Shlomo and a graduate of a Hesder yeshiva, marries the beautiful Esther to fulfill social and religious expectations. The couple builds a family with two children, but life in the shadow of a great secret creates an invisible barrier between them, and reality requires them to confront the truth. The play reveals the tension between authentic personal identity and societal mandates, and the courage required to live honestly even at the cost of losing the community's protective Sukkah.
The Author, Tzvi Ben-Meir: Winner of the Brenner Prize for debut novels. Born in Jerusalem in 1986. A short story of his was selected as a recommended story in the Haaretz short story competition in 2021, and another story won the "Personal Seal" competition at Sapir College that same year.
