Traveling during Hanukkah: Following the Nation's Mysteries Through Time
Who are the Sons of Light? What are the caves in the Shephelah used for besides hiding? Where is there a palace inside a mountain? Who were the first to settle in the Negev, and how did they bring water to the desert? "Mysteries in Time" provides the answers to these questions and many others.
"Mysteries in Time": A new and fascinating project by the Directorate for Israeli Judaism and the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism - in collaboration with Project 929, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, and the Council for Conservation of Heritage Sites in Israel. Many are looking for an experiential and educational activity for the days of Hanukkah. There is no better place to connect with the story of the People of Israel and the Hanukkah holiday than at the heritage sites and national parks scattered throughout the country.
The "Mysteries in Time" pilot brings our heritage stories to life through a fun family game and a podcast that travels through time at 10 heritage sites and national parks, from the Upper Galilee down to the Western Negev, including two sites that were closed for a long time during the Iron Swords War (Tel Dan Nature Reserve and Gvulot Outpost).
"Mysteries in Time" (recommended for children aged 7-12) is an interactive game accompanied by a WhatsApp bot. While solving the riddles throughout the sites, participants learn about the Jewish, Zionist, and Israeli story of each location. The game kit, which also includes a souvenir magnet, can be purchased at the site sales points for 35 NIS per family.
