As per tradition: A warm sip of elegant afternoon tea at the Waldorf Astoria, Jerusalem, with mini pastries and other surprises

Are you familiar with the history of 'afternoon tea'? The long-standing British custom, Afternoon Tea, was born in the 19th century, in 1830 to be exact, at the initiative of Duchess Anna Russell, who turned tea time into an elegant social event, designed to alleviate hunger between lunch and dinner. From early hours, she invited her friends to her home for afternoon tea, where they drank tea, ate sandwiches, and finished with scones, mini pastries, and casual conversations.

But not only in England... Also in the Holy City, this year again, the Waldorf Astoria continues the tradition, serving the meal in a luxurious and particularly inviting atmosphere in the designed King's Court restaurant, between 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM. The hotel invites its guests and tea enthusiasts to enjoy a traditional and meticulous afternoon tea, as per British tradition.

Guests are invited to indulge in a beautifully designed three-tiered tray including a variety of savory sandwiches, meticulously crafted desserts, and traditional scones, alongside a wide selection of quality teas from around the world.

Among the dishes: In the savory dishes - a variety of sandwiches from whole-grain country bread with cucumber and dill cream cheese, country nut bread, Tomme cheese and tomato chutney, sourdough bread, smoked salmon, cream cheese, and lemon zest, egg salad and smoked salmon tart. Alongside these are served rich desserts - including financier, a mini French almond cake with berries, honey and lemon Madeleine cookies, mini Rocher chocolate crunch, praline mousse, chocolate coating and hazelnut slivers, cheese brownies, caramel profiterole with chocolate coating, petit four cheese and citrus with caramelized pine nuts, and of course, traditional mini scones including classic scones, white raisin scones, whipped cream, assorted jams.

As befits a luxury hotel, the meal is served in elegant porcelain and polished silverware, with an emphasis on a perfect service experience.
