Movie Recommendation: The Sheep Detectives
The wisdom of sheep projected onto human beings: I previously read the bestseller "Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Mystery" by author Leonie Swann (Am Oved, 2008) and was deeply impressed, so I was happy that it was turned into a film.
In the charming movie "The Sheep Detectives," directed by Kyle Balda and starring Hugh Jackman, along with famous voice actors (both in English and Hebrew), you will find a flock of sheep that mirrors types of people you know in your daily life: women and men with courage and fear, limitations and initiative, rigidity and open-mindedness. And a whole lot of love and loyalty.
It is a film suitable for children, but even more so for adults, who will understand the comparisons to people and the sensitive nuances. I loved it very much.
The Plot: George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective stories to his beloved sheep every evening, under the assumption (ours?) that there is no way they actually understand them. But when a dramatic and mysterious event disrupts the farm's routine, the sheep realize they must become detectives. As they follow clues and investigate suspicious people, they prove that sheep (like humans) can be brilliant mystery solvers.
Starring Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman ('Wolverine').
Directed by: Kyle Balda ('Minions')
The film is distributed by Forum Film and will arrive in theaters on May 14, 2026.
USA, 2026
