New FedEx and Reuters Events Report Published
FedEx, in collaboration with Reuters Events, published a research report in the US during September titled "Automotive Manufacturing: The Future of Automotive Supply Chains," which examines how software-defined vehicles (SDVs), autonomous driving technologies, electric propulsion, and advanced materials are reshaping automotive supply chains.
The report, based on a global survey of 81 automotive professionals, found that 73% of respondents believe software-defined vehicles will be of high or extreme importance to their business operations over the next five years. This finding underscores the rapid pace at which the industry is evolving to support the next generation of vehicles. As manufacturers adapt their operations to these changes, the study points to a growing demand for supplier diversification, full end-to-end supply chain visibility, and logistical capabilities that enable companies to respond more quickly to changing market conditions.
"As vehicles become increasingly software-defined, automotive supply chains are becoming more dynamic and data-driven," said Rakesh Puri, Vice President of Global Industry Marketing at FedEx. "Manufacturers are building supplier ecosystems, sourcing more sophisticated components, and responding to rapidly changing production needs. At FedEx, we are preparing for these changes ahead of time by integrating our smart global network, real-time insights, and logistical expertise to serve as strategic advisors for automotive customers as they navigate into the next era of manufacturing."
